butt vs. fresh ham

I just finished an excellent Boston Butt using Huck's apple cider
brine. While the pork was excellent, I wondered why I don't hear of
anyone using fresh hams for pulled pork. Many of the local ( north georgia ) bbq shops use fresh hams exclusively. I smoked one several
years ago (pre BGE) in a Brinkman water smoker and it was very good.
Any thoughts?[p]Chuck
