Sandwich or not, I have decided to grill hotdogs with a variety of fun toppings for the Bama/LSU game. I'm going to get banana pepper rings, pimento cheese, ketchup, spicy mustard, siracha, etc.
What fun ideas do ya'll have?

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I like them smothered with white American and cheddar cheese, a little chilli, diced white onions, a few jalapeño slices and smothered with tater tots. Just don't get much better in my book.
Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.
Status- Standing by.

Here are some of my favorites. All toppings are in the order in which they are added.
1) bun, dog, mustard, onion, chili, shredded cheddar
2) bun, dog, mustard, onion, chili, creamy coleslaw (think KFC or CAF)
3) bun, dog, mustard, onion, diced tomato
and my favorite
4) bun, dog, mustard, onion, shredded cheddar, chili, creamy coleslaw
Under NO circumstances should one EVER apply Ketchup to a hotdog. -

Fry up some bacon bits. Diced onion. Wickles brand relish. I like those little peppers you get on a chicago style dog. Sauerkraut is good too.
And get some good celery salt, that is essential!!!!2 LBGE, Blackstone 36, Jumbo Joe

grew up working near a howards green tomato piccalilly plant, so piccalilly. deep fried hotdogs are a good change of pace, remove from hot oil and roll in american white cheese and into a hot buttered split top. been known to fry leftover spaghetti and use that as a topping. something you never see is a butter and rub added to the outside of the roll then toasted, works with any roll but split tops are best, dizzy fine grind is a good rub for this. mostly its relish mustard onion celery salt, or mustard chili onion celery salt. NO potato buns, NO salad items theres a varsity chili sauce on this site some place, i usually go with a gaggah sauce like one of these

You know what cracks me up? When people get all high and mighty about putting ketchup on a hot dog. Seriously? Its not like you are eating a prime cut of meat. Its lips and a$$holes, Man. Who cares what you put on it? If people want ketchup, let them have ketchup and quit being so sanctimonius about it. Rant over. Off my soap box. Carry on.
And your hot dog party sounds like a great idea @BigGreenBamaGriller . Make sure to have some chili and cheese. That's how I like my dogs.Rowlett, Texas

curry powder, celery salt, alfalfa sprouts, onions.

Something that's worked pretty well for me for dogs is to mix some mustard w. mayo, and spread that on the bun. Toast the bun, spread side down. It gets puffy and crusty. Can also mix in a little grated cheese.

We like getting the publix mini sub rolls, slice down the middle and pull a lil of the bread from each side ( make more room for the good stuff). Place hot dog in bun, strip of mustsrd, add hormel chili, add chopped onions, sport pepper or 2 and top with some shredded cheddar chs. Someti.mes we sprinkle a pinch of celery salt. Absolutely awesome

Yeah. I've seen hotdogs being made. Ketchup is the least of your worries...

Growing up in upstate NY-it was all about the "Michigan" hot dog.
The keys for a Michigan:
- A thick meat sauce, slightly hot with spices, spiced with cumin and almost grainy in consistency
- A steamed hot dog, often a bright red hot dog made with a natural casing
- A big, sturdy, top-cut bun
- Rough-chopped raw onion, either on top or “buried” under the sauce
- A line of yellow mustard
Now that was a banquet.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Try spiral cut hot dogs. They hold the condiments better.

I resisted the classic Chicago hot dog for a couple trips, but once I tried one they became a favorite (usually from Portillos). Onion, small peppers, tomato, nuclear-green relish, cucumber slice, celery salt and a dill pickle (I may be forgetting something). Odd, but delicious._____________"Pro-Life" would be twenty students graduating from Sandy Hook next month
