What's the best place to insert the probe on a 4# beer butt roaster? Somewhere I had read thigh, but they are so little and close to both the bone and the fire. Right now I've got it coming down from the top of the breast and I THINK I'm getting a legit temp reading. Make sense? Thanks!

RRP, I have no problem with the breast temp readings. Plus ease of use if the bird is horizontal. If in a sitter standup, then the thigh would be more accessable. I usually just check the thigh with a "instant" Pocket Polder about the time I think its ready. Then I insert it in the web pocket between the inner thigh and the rib cage where the juices have collected. Seems to work ok.
