For those who have been hesitating on whether to spend the money on a Blackstone griddle, this might entice you. I ordered the stainless steel griddle in the picture, but the painted black griddle is also on sale for $261.19. Walmart has free shipping to your local Walmart store.
Any road will take you there if you don't know where you're going.

I think so, depending on the quality of the SS. The painted unit will eventually rust and need some maintenance and the SS should be easier to clean as well. The carbon steel griddle is the same on both units. $280 for the SS unit is cheaper than the normal $299 for the painted unit.Any road will take you there if you don't know where you're going.

Yeah at that price I probably would have gone with stainless as well. I don't think it makes a huge difference- as mentioned above the cooking surface is the same. You need to plan to keep it dry anyway or the griddle will rust.
On that note- this was brought up in the other "legit" forum, but if you are storing this in the elements then the cover they sell is not waterproof. I would either get a different cover, or if you really want the blackstone so it fits just right do the following:
1) Get something to put on the griddle to lift up the cover so the water won't pool up. A vent cap like this works well:
2) Put a small cheap blue tarp over the griddle and your teepee lifting device.
3) Put the cover over the tarp.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Great advise @SmokeyPit. I didn't know the cover wasn't waterproof.

@DoubleEgger @tarheelmatt truth is, this things gonna have to live outside. For $70 bucks(20 less than the black retails) seemed like a no brainer.
Plus everyone knows that everybody in the carpet business is filthy rich. -
@theyolksonyouWith no kitchen, it's definitely a no brainer.
-
@theyolksonyou Congrats! And now you can start pressuring the next guy.
I'm still very happy with my hardcover, don't know if you saw it. It lets the grill breathe and makes it waterproof. I've since made another one for a different cooker.
Phoenix -
@blasting I did see it. I bought the cover not knowing it wasn't waterproof. Prolly send it back and do something similar.
