Anyone have any experience using carbon steel skillets (Lodge, de Buyer, or other) on their Eggs or on a camp stove?

I use a Carbon Steel plate all the time on the egg. It is fantastic. Better response than CI when it's coming back to temp when cooking.

I have this pan by de Buyer: http://www.debuyer.com/en/products/carbone-plus-round-fry-pan-with-2-handles
I really like it. It is a heavy, well make pan. I've used it for paella and pan frying on my large egg with great results.Coleman, Texas
Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...

The Mineral Bs get great reviews. Thicker is heavier....which gets you closer to CI.

I opted for a 12" Lodge skillet a couple of years ago, and have been very pleased. Lightweight, nice heat transfer. You don't have too wait long to heat, or for them to cool. The surface is not as smooth as the Mineral Bs, but works just as good, and much cheaper.
fyi....the Lodge carbon steel has a much better surface than their CI.
Recently purchased a couple of Lodge Carbon Steel Items, the paella pan, and grill pan at Farm and Fleet. At 50%, this is, IMO, a great deal. I personally, have never seen their carbon line on sale. The paella pan is a little big for the large egg. Plan on possibly bending the handles in to fit with a torch and bench vise. Or use the paella pan strictly on the Weber kettles and over the fire when camping.

I've got a carbon steel crepe pan that I use when I make smash burgers. Prefer it to using a cast iron skillet.
Had to look up who makes it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ZMA2J2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk
