Did a recent clean burn and installed a new Rutland gasket (thanks RRP). Cooked a meatloaf at 375 and closed egg down at 6:00 PM. Temp still at 150 the next morning at 10:00AM. Never had this problem before. Gasket does not seem to have any leaks. Using a Smokeware cap. Any ideas on why egg is taking so long to shut down Thanks in advance.

That fire is getting oxygen from somewhere. And it has to be coming from either the vent door, the gasket, or whichever cap you are using. I'd check all of them and find your problem.Steve

Has anyone had problems with the vent door after a clean burn ??

Just an idea but next time you have some smoke going shut everything down. The smoke should come out from wherever your problem spot is.

This may not be the problem causing your leak, but another word of advice. If you recently did a clean burn, PLEASE check your bolts and bands and tighten them if needed. They have a tendency to loosen up and move at high heat.Steve

Ck your dome therm. Maybe it needs calibration and the egg is actually at 0.....

+1 with what @S.Newcomb76 said.
Also, was the egg cool(inside and outside) when thermo read 150° or was it warn? Could be what @marysvilleegger mentioned about calibration, especially if you left the thermo in when you did the clean burn.Steven

Did not leave the thermometer in during the clean burn. Have checked the calibration and it is correct. The egg was still warm the next morning. Thanks for all the response.

Dollar bill test all around the gasket sounds like a good idea to me. I have a SmokeWare cap on both my Medium and my Large, and the fire gets put out fine. I bet the leak's in the gasket or the alignment of the top and bottom.
