I found a butterburger recipe. I'm not to fond of cottage cheese. What with this do if I don't use cottage cheese. Flavor and texture?[p]Thanks,[p]Mike

    Car Wash Mike,
What is a Butterburger - I googled it and only came up with a place called Carver that serves it (what ever it is)?

Car Wash Mike, you mean a knock off of Culver's Butterburgers? I like them, but had no clue that they had cottage cheese in them! Care to share the recipe or the site?

It is Culvers. I have never been there but everyone seems to rave about their burgers.
I don't know whose recipe this belongs to.[p] 1 lb lean ground beef
    1/2 c cottage cheese
    1 egg
    3/4 tsp dry mustard
    3 tbsp melted butter
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp MSG
    1 tbsp chopped green onions
    5 tbsp melted butter
    1 tsp worcestershire sauce

In a bowl mix the cottage cheese, egg, seasonings and green onion. Add the
3 tablespoons melted butter. Beat to mix. Add the ground beef and mix well.
Make into 4 patties. Melt the 5 tablespoons butter in a hot frying pan.
Cook the "burgers" to your liking, turning only once. Cut 4 hamburger buns
in half. Dip cut sides into pan drippigs and place under broiler until
lightly toasted. Place meat between bun halves and garnish with pickle
fans. These have a good beefy flavor enhanced by the goodness of butter.
When you want flavor .. use butter.[p]

RRP,[p]I have too much time on my hands today. Here's what I found.
At a glance, it seems viable. I edited it a tiny bit based on
recipes from other sites that were basically the same, but only my guess as to how many burgers it will yeild.[p]"butterburger recipe: this is for about *five*? 12 oz individual burgers
    5 lbs. ground beef
    2 1/2 cups cottage cheese
    3 eggs
    3 1/4 teaspoons dry mustard
    15 tbsp. melted butter
    5 tsp. kosher salt
    5 tbsp. chopped green onions
5 tsp. Worcestershire sauce[p]you can fry them in a pan or grill.
Enjoy, vb"[p]Please let us know if you try it and ideally share pics. :-)

Cottage cheese in a burger? What's next? Cottage cheese with pineapple or canned peaches in a burger. LOL.

    TCU Frog 2,
I hear you, Jim, but their hamburgers are darn good! Besides that there are over 320 locations in their chain here in the midwest so the public must be saying they like their cottage cheese laced burgers...though until last night I had no clue!

    BabyBoomBBQ,
OK, I just made some Butter Burgers using the recipe. Only thig I did different was I used ordinary table salt instead of Kosher.
I used 3 lbs of ground beef and made 7 patties.
Fired up the egg and steadied the temp out at 385*
grilled direct, I didn't add wood for smoke.
I didn't time the cook but I guess I did 5-6 minutes one side, then flipped the burgers, at that point I piled shredded cheddar on top and cut the temp down by closing the vents. Waited about 2 minutes until the chees was melted and took them off.
The results were GREAT! Possibly the best burger I've cooked on the egg as of yet.
Next time I'll add some pecan wood and smoke to see what happens.
Thanks for the recipe, it's a good one![p]
