Pumpkin Beer and Octoberfest already....

Pumpkin beer and Octoberfests are already showing up in stores around me. These are a couple of my favorite beverages and makes me worry that come Halloween they will be long gone.

Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.

Last year's batch was cloyingly sweet. I hope this year's is better. I had saved a bottle as well and is did mellow a bit when I drank it a couple of weeks ago.

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale has been the most consistent for me. Plus, it's very drinkable. I had Flying Dog's Gourd Standard and The Fear at there tasting room, both are good this year. Gourd Standard is a Pumpkin IPA, which is nice since most are standard or imperial ales.

I absolutely love pumpkin pie and pumpkin seeds. With that said, I have never tried pumpkin beer or any pumpkin drink for that matter. After reading all the praises above for the pumpkin beer above, I'm going to give it a try myself.

Way too early for pumpkin ales for me. I think they should be for Halloween through Thanksgiving.

Octoberfest does start in early September, so it isn't real early for the Märzens to be in the stores. I did pick up some of my favorite today - now in the frig among the essentials.

@SGH You will need to try a few different pumpkin ales. They are not equal. But you will find one that is great if you try enough. I like to just have 1 or 2 then my regular beers after.

I'm sure going to give them a try my friend.

I totally agree, I have a personal thing that I will not drink a pumpkin or fall brew until September, I saw the pumpking yesterday and grabbed a bottle. God I love that stuff!!

Definitely a cooler weather beer. I think it was about 4 years ago SA came out the Oktoberfest in late September....and was out by mid October. Ever since, they have been offering it up sooner....and making sure supply runs well into November. They had the positive problem (great beer) and fixed in years since. I picked up some last weekend. I think late October is when you need to invest in some multi case stash for the holiday festivities.
