    Finishing up "To Kill a Mockingbird" which I had never read.  A great book!  Last one was "The Boys in the Boat" also an excellent read.

    Just finished up Lords of Dicipline and started a new book.  It's a collection of short stories by Chuck Palaniuk(fight club) called Haunted.  They are disturbing but well written.  A nice shock to the senses.

    I thought I'd read somewhere recently that her new novel was actually written before TKAM, so it's more of a historical quirk than an intentional "change of character".  Not sure on that though.  
    I think this is correct, that Watchman is an earlier draft.  I've also heard that there are some parts in Watchman that are also in TKAM verbatim.

    I know that AL investigated alleged elder abuse, but I'm not sure I'll ever understand how Harper Lee went from saying that she was only going to do the one book for 50 years and then once a new lawyer became involved and her sister passed the new book is coming out.  It just seems fishy to me.

    I pretty much only read books on my iPad now.  They are cheaper and I don't have to wait for them to get here or go to the store.  I can also "rent" ebooks from my local library so sometimes there's a free option.

    Pretty much 100% kindle. An occasional paperback. I like "e-ink" style readers - I'm tired of computer and pad screens at the end of the day. Or outside reading...

    I've gotten so use to being able to change font, font size and back lighting, not to mention that I can put what I'm reading on everything from my e-reader, tablet, phone or laptop that I've found it very difficult to read a paperback copy of a book any more... of course, when the EMP blast or the mega solar flare takes out the grid and sends us back to the dark ages I guess we'll have to go back to paper (and do ALL our cooking on the egg!).

    @Chief9 ... sounds like you might like Brad Taylor's Pike Logan series ... reading them in order is best.  Is Vince Flynn's "The Survivor" being published?

    Just finished up Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire series.  Currently working my way through the Brad Taylor series. 

    Also reading the "The Omnivore's Dilemma".  Rather wordy, but an interesting read, especially if you grew up in the 50's and 60's and can remember the pre-McDonald's era and when the small family owned farms were the norm.

    'Cause I'm a glutton for punishment, "Fragments of an Anarchist Anthropology," By D. Graeber. A small book written before "Debt: The First 5000 Years." That one took me maybe 6 months to finish, it was so depressing. Y'know what, humans are cruel Effers.

    My wife is re-reading the Brother Karamazov. I've teased her. "What? Again. Don't let me spoil it, but wait till Ivan meets the devil.." Its only      345,592 words long, so I suppose she may have forgotten some parts.

    I usually avoid best sellers. Figure, why read it when everyone else is, and they'll let me know. But that is one I was happy to read in detail. Did not know that the millions of acres of corn growing in every direction might as well be plastic, as far as me grabbing a bite. No longer human digestible off the cob.
