    One of my favorite drinks.

Last fall my wife and I worked up this little recipe for the egg...

    "Old Fashion" Tea Cakes
Used the Old Fashion Drink as inspiration...
    1.5 cups flour
    1 tsp baker powder
    1/2 tsp kosher salt
    1/2 cup unsalted butter
    3/4 cup sugar
    zest of one orange
    1 tablespoon fennel
    1 tablespoon bourbon
    3 eggs
    1/2 cup milk
Scoop into grease mini muffin tins.
Put half a maraschino cherry on top of each cake.
    Indirect @350 for 18-ish minutes.

    Syrup  (amounts were not measured)
    Orange Juice
    Bourbon
    bitters
    sugars.

spoon syrup over cakes after they come off the grill.

@redskip, enjoy the beverage!  Gotta say good bourbon with one ice cube is my go to. Hate to ruin good bourbon but also, to each his own.  Cheers!

Where is the club soda? And cherry juice? Anyway...looks great, I'd drink it. My go to is bourbon on the rocks w a dash of bitters. I call it the lazy old fashioned.
    Fish, Hunt, Cook....anything else?

Manhattan is another excellent bourbon drink.

    3/4 oz. Sweet Vermouth
    2 oz. Bourbon
    Dash of Bitters
Stirred and poured over ice with a cherry garnish.

A lot if work, but worth it on 100F days with Q:
6 oz can of frozen OJ concentrate
12 oz can of frozen lemonade concentrate
    1 (46oz) can pineapple juice
1 1/2 cups of white sugar
2 cups of strong brewed black tea
    2 cups of bourbon ( I use 4)

in a large bowl or container mix everything together, transfer to shallow bowls, freeze overnight.

remove frozen mixture, let stand for 10 minutes. Chop with wire whisk or potato masher to make slushy consistency.

place scoops into glasses, add fruit of your choice. Consume and get hammered. Watch out for the frozen headaches.

I love many cocktails, but there is none better than an Old Fashioned.  For decades people put all kinds of fruit in them, but I prefer them the old way, that seems to be coming back, now:

    2 oz Bulleit bourbon
    1/4 oz simple syrup (1:1 sugar:water)
    3 dashes Angostura Bitters

Sometimes I'll twist a lemon or orange strip, but most of the time I don't.

I'm with @bgebrent, good bourbon with one rock, looks good though.
