Weird brown secretion from egg...

Hello.

After a week of rain, there is some mold in my egg. So I started doing a clean burn (got to 1000+ degrees - should have been monitoring it instead of going back to work!). When I checked back, I see this weird web pattern on the surface and a brown secretion. It's dried out so I couldn't even wipe it off...

Any idea what this stuff may be? My deck smells like burnt stale oil from the clean burn...

Dave it's not uncommon at all with a lot of rain. I keep my eggs inside so I never have this problem.

Nothing to worry about, just moisture wicking out of the ceramics

Thanks guys. I was afraid to use a wet paper towel to wipe off fearing to crack it. That would be devastating.

Next time you cook, once you shut down, hit it with a wet rag or some simple green cleaner, and you'll be just fine!
