Which pizza stone to get for the XL

I have been reading the forum posts for about 2 yrs but have just joined. I have a XL and need to get a pizza stone. Most of the posts I have read were for the large. I have looked at the BGE PSXL 21 in stone and the 17.5 in stone from the Ceramic Grill Store but not sure what stone to look at or buy. What stone do you use with the XL or what stone would you buy?

Hard to beat the BGE stone. Very resilient and great at any temp. It's worth the coin.

Go with the BGE. I can't speak to the Ceramic Grill Store's stone, but I tried several others before getting the BGE stone.

I have an XL and use the BGE XL stone. I don't make large pizzas, we usually make smaller personalized pizzas and I can easily fit 3 at a time on the XL stone, this also gives me plenty of room to move them around to adjust for hot spots.

Go big. Does not cost anymore to heat it up. Got mine from ceramic grill store with my rig.

I've got a 16" kiln shelf. I can get it 3" to 4" above the felt without any trouble.

I just use the plate setter legs down and it works great,just don't go crazy with the temp. My best results have been around 450 dome.

If you raise the stone high in the dome you the xl stone will not fit.

Based on the size pizza you plan to make, a 16" stone should do fine. This should also allow for flexibility in height placement.

Common question from the new XL owner. Big XL BGE stone can handle a few small pizzas at one time, most who buy the XL seem to have more than a few to feed. So this (XL stone) works.

Keep in mind that the difficulty of handling a pizza goes up more quickly than the Diameter!

I ended up at a restaurant supply store to get a PEEL and a pizzeria-style serving tin. Actually, not TOO expensive at all! Storage of my 22" peel, however IS a hassle.
