Do you cover your table?

I just built a cedar table for my LBGE and live in Minnesota. Given this is my first table, I was wondering is it worth investing in a cover? If I would get a cover, I don't intend to purchase the BGE table cover as I would rather spend the $ on some extra ribs.

Let me know if you don't cover your table, and how it holds up.

I don't cover mine. I also have a cedar table. It is on a porch that is covered so it doesn't get rained on. Every so often a blowing rain will get on it. So far it is holding up fine.

Yes. Cover from The-Cover-Store.com. I have a SS table that spots horribly from water. Since you have Cedar, it will wear a LOT better over time if you cover it.

I have a cedar and granite table that sits outside in the elements. Had it three years and never covered it and it's doing fine. Thought about getting a cover and didn't see the benefit versus the hassle of removing it and covering back up since I cook 3-4 days a week at least.

What sort of finish do you have on your table? If it is a finish that is pretty and shiny to keep it that way you either have to cover it or commit to redoing the finish every couple or three years.

If you’re content to let the cedar weather naturally then there’s no real need to cover it. If that is the case you still might want to consider a tarp and some bungees for those periods where you’re not using it for a while or a particularly nasty storm amy be coming thru.

Yes. Mine's food grade 304 SS so, with or without a cover it is A-Okay. I however use a cover.

I bought a patio table cover from lowes for like $20 when I had a table. For that price why not cover it?

Just built a table and thought about it but decided against it for two reasons. One, I had covers for my Weber grills in the past and I never used them. They just sat on the ground next to the grill. I grill often enough that it's too much hassle to always be putting it on and taking it off. Especially since you have to wait so long for it to cool down after using it. Second, I've seen a few posts where people didn't left their covered egg unused for some period of time and came back to mold inside because it was trapping moisture in there.

I have cedar table in Ohio. I bought a cover, and MN is even worse weather.

I bought a Duck Cover for my table. I bought their standard Big Green Egg Table cover on Amazon for $35. It fit perfectly except the height. I emailed them and they made me a custom cover. Fits perfectly now. Worth a call to see how much a custom cover would be.

so far I cover mine. I was lucky, my old cover from my propane BBQ fits really well.

I do. BTW with your nasty Winters up there then why not at least spend $10 and buy one of those tarps at a big box store or Harbor Freight? That's what I switch to in Winter in IL. Snow & ice slip right off it when moved.

I cover mine always, and I have a cedar table. I figure by covering it it will last many many years

wood table, not cedar so i always cover. got a nice one on amazon to cover egg and 6 ft table for about $40

I'm having a hard time finding covers that are more than 24'' wide. My table is 26' wide and 46'' long. Anyone have any recs on where to find a wider cover?

You can even find local upholstery shops to make one. The problem is what fabric and what color? Sticking with people that do them already is easier. I bought a generic one that covered outdoor chairs when stacked but it is only for a small table. I used covers by mel for my bigger table

I found a Duck model one on amazon that should fit perfectly with the dimensions of my table. Have a couple inches to spare if needed. Free two day shipping too!

Yes, I also have the duck cover. I was more concerned about sun damager to the egg itself. I didn't want the egg or handle to fade. $30 was a small price to pay to protect your investment.

I have mine covered because I cook year around, shade from sun, shelter from rain/snow, easier to keep clean,
