Has anyone else heard that Ozark Oak is going out of business?

It's the only lump I have ever used since I got my egg.  I suppose I need suggestions now.  The only lump I could get in a pinch in this small town was Best Choice, a grocery store re-branding.

And it has caused a shortage of other quality charcoals.  I swung by firecraft last month (I live close by and just pick my goodies up) and Rockwood and Humphreys were back ordered.  All they had for lump was the Good One.  So that is what I have been using for the past month.  It is pretty good stuff IMHO, but I would still prefer OO, Rockwood and maybe Humphreys which can be great but, again imho, is less consistent than OO and Rockwood.  I think firecraft is now sourcing mapleleaf to fill the gap.  Looking forward to trying that.

This is gonna be just like ammunition, people will be hoarding their favorites.

I ran out of OO about two months ago and have been using RO ever since. I went south a few miles today and picked up a bag of WGWW and Rockwood.  I'm gonna give them a try and see if I have found a new favorite.

the way I understand it, they will not be putting it in their own Ozark Oak bags, the kiln will still be in business, just not as Ozark Oak.... now if we could just find out whose name they are selling under...

After seeing the motorcycle gangs on TV all last week, I keep thinking about BGE lump gangs. The Ozark Oak OGC (outlaw grilling club), The Rockwood's, The Royal Oaks......

There's turf wars, territorial concerns, and hard core loyalists....

I've got too much free time on my hands.....
:)...I will add WWOGC Weekend Warrior (outlaw grilling club)

I have to admit thinking about some peoples tendencies towards the protection of and single mindedness towards their lump it is not beyond the scope of possibility. If the tree huggers ever get a law passed or if raw material gets so rare that charcoal becomes too expensive how many people will make their own.

Speaking of Kamado Joe lump, I picked up some at a special event at Costco.   $30 for 2 22 pound bags.  Will I be pleased?   I ordinarily use Rockwood.

@DRKEgg If you got the red bags of KJ you will be pretty happy.  The brown bags are crap.
