I will be placing an order for an adjustable rig soon.
I want to be able to cook 6 racks of rib like in the picture below. Where does the oval stone goes in this setup? Do I have everything I need in the list of items below?
Pictures of your setup would be appreciated
Thanks

You would use a spider with a stone on it.Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013

To replicate the picture above exactly, you would need a round stone and a spider as Chubb suggested above. The oval stone normally sits where the bottom grid is in the picture above.
Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.
Status- Standing by.

I have the 3 oval grids with the oval stone. The issue with using 3 grids at once, and the oval stone is that the lowest level of ribs and the row just above it are tight. The spider and round stone would allow the set up you see above, just take care with foil or otherwise to protect the ends of the ribs. I think I have all components for the AR, but I've never tried 6 laid flat like that. I think I have done 4. To get 6 another way, you could do 3 laid flat next to each other on 2 grids. This would be give you more headroom, but reduce your shoulder room.

Did some searching through pics, but the only setup I found was on my bubba keg. Its a metal, insulated kamado, same size as the Large. The "spider" is a contraption my brother welded for our kamados. Its a two level system. One holds the heat barrier, the second level holds a drip pan, with an air gap between the heat barrier and drip pan.

I have the round stone and spider and I love it with the A/R. Getting that lower level back that you don't have to use for the oval stone is invaluable. If you are doing brisket or ribs, just use foil to block the ends that the round stone doesn't cover. It gives you a whole other level to cook on.

@SmokeyPitt I already have a spider and PSWoo2. It works for 95% of my cooks but, this weekend, some friends visited me and I had a hard time with just 3 racks of ribs. I'd like to be able to cook at least 4 and possibly 6.
@GATABITES I understand what I need now but I will need to call anyway because somehow the shipping rates in the cart comes up to 2502$____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli -
I have the setup in the picture and have used the spider with the 13" round stone on the bottom. I recently received the oval stone and set it directly on my fire ring and the AR on top of that. That freed up all levels on the AR.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

Question on the three tiers...do you rotate top and bottom tier half way through the the cook? Seems like top rack would get done sooner, cause of the higher temp in top of dome.

Last time I did 2 butts up top and 2 butts in the middle it seems like I had 1 butt on the top and 1 from the middle get ready about the same time. I think combined the remaining 2 butts in the middle to finish. All 4 were finished within the same hour.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

I get 2 racks per level so I would need 3 levels. I guess if you are using a rib rack you could possibly get 4 racks per level and then have 8 total across 2 levels. I'm only speculating. Maybe someone will post actual results.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

I put my large CGS stone right on the BGE grate and the AR fits around it and then I can load up all the racks of the AR

^^I know what you mean @Jeepster47 ^^ I just added the spider combo package to my arsenal (already have R&B combo). @Paqman FWIW when I placed my order I sent an Email to Tom and he provided me USPS shipping quotes. After opting for my choice he then set it up to where this option was selectable during my online checkout. (Fedex for my most recent order for the spider combo was about double what I ended up paying USPS).
Edit: Tom does caution you to read their shipping policy regarding shipping via USPS.

If you use a spider and stone, does it limit the amount or lump - and in turn max cooking time - for smoking?

This is how I do 6 racks with oval stone. Metal bars resting on stone then up the layers until oval grid on the D ring
