Finay got my medium after years of wanting an egg. Found a deal on local Facebook yard sale. Brand new, $150 off retail. I've already done two pork shoulders (1st was ok, 2nd was great). Planning on baby backs and wings this weekend. If you have any tips I'd love to hear them.

What's the story behind your forum name? Probably shouldn't of ask, but I'm sure others want the story as well.Steven

Welcome.
Pro tip #1. Avoid the devastated thread at all cost. We are usually not that crazy. -
Welcome! This forum is an excellent resource. I am also a relative newbie. Ive had my egg for about 12 months.
My tips are:
1) Allot some time to get your egg up to temperature and stabilized. Make sure that nasty initial white smoke is gone before starting the cook.
2) Cook to internal temperature not time. This was a big change for me.
3) Burp the egg........especially if cooking at high temperatures.
Hope you enjoy the egg as much as the rest of us.Montgomery, OH

Thanks all, and I appreciate the tips!
The name: I worked in a jail a few years back and an inmate came in yelling "I'm cockdiesel!" and bragging about basically being a POS. We made fun of said idiot for a while. I then began using this name for Playstation gaming and so on. Had to be there...lol. -
Kockdiesel, there i typed it. First of all welcome. Im going to give you the same advice I give all new members who have just got there first egg. You will find it much funnier in a couple of months. First find a good shrink that deals with addictions. then go make friends with a good butcher and get his cell number. Go find a good source for lump and on the way home stop at the bank to get a home equity loan to help offset things for a few months. You are going to increase your grocery bill considerably. Although the out to eat spending will literally evaporate so it might actually save you money. Which you can rathole for the next egg. Keep notes and records of this because when (not if) you buy your next egg you can argue intelligently with your better half that it will literally pay for itself. Trust me i tell my wife my egg earns money just in the pizza for the kids. On a more serious note take your time and remember that the mistakes happen less and less over time as skills increase. Have fun and experiment. Even a bad cook on an egg will kick the snot out of a gasserColumbus, Ohio--A Gasser filled with Matchlight and an Ugly Drum.

Note taken...lol. I've only used it twice and I'm already addicted. I'm sure I'll be figuring out a way to upgrade as soon as I PCS to my next location. Maybe I'll set up a a little bistro in my back yard and sell to my neighbors. My girlfriend is excited to try a pizza, so I'm sure I'll be making that attempt very soon.
