Yakitori setup / rig

Has anybody had any experimentation or success in setting up a Yakitori like mod for grilling? I have some ideas but thought I'd ask the group. Please share any pics or plans if you have tried and found success or pitfalls. Thanks

isnt it pretty much food close to the fire and open dome. this might sound odd but ive done it in the past when out of lump and had briquettes handy. place a grill under fire ring and light briquettes on top, get lit and spread out and place second grid on top of fire ring, nice even grilling surface with the dome open.

In simplest terms. But usually cooked with a skewer and if using wood - you want to avoid burning ends go a black crisp. Traditional grills are only about 4-5 inches wide and about a foot or more long and the skewers rest across the opening leaving the skewers off the heat.Victoria, MN

Try using two fire bricks up on the long end about the width of the meat on the stick. soak the sticks.

Well done. Although one can buy a personal tabletop grill - I can't help but think I could easily replicate on my egg. Put a small grate on top of a chimney starter - I think someone posted that a while ago to cook a steak.

Could you not just put the skewer on the edge of the cooking grid with the open end of the skewer over the gasket?
