7.5lb bone-in pork butt & 9hrs to do it!

Have this fresh pork butt in the fridge left over from a recent batch of sausage making. Kind of made my mind up at last minute here this morning to try smoking it for our dinner this evening. I figure it will get about 9hrs cook time. Is this doable? What temp should I set my egg up at? Also, would it help to try placing it high in the dome or does it really matter?

You can do a hybrid turbo butt. Start out at 225° for 2-3 hours and then bumb it up to 350° to finish it. I did one of similar size in 6.5 hours. This should also leave you plenty of rest time. Good luck.George Foreman? Who?Tim C. Panama City, Fl.Large, Minimax-soon

Turbo style, 350* indirect. Don't use a rub with high sugar content. You should get there with time to spare.

It can be done nicely. Start around 250 for four hours and then keep up the temp to 300 for the rest of the cook. You should be good to go.

Ended up doing this butt @ 225 degrees for roughly 6hrs and then bumped temp up to 325 degrees for about 2hrs until it hit an IT of 195. Pulled it and foiled for 1/2 hour rest.
.... that's if anybody cares
Not quite as tender as an entire low and slow cook, but not bad at all. MiniMax pulled this cook off very well!My PitMaster IQ120 FREAKIN ROCKS!!!!!!! Current BGE arsenal: XL & MiniMax -

I will say one thing about my MiniMax compared to my XL ... it is so dang easy to dial in at my desired temp and it doesn't budge! So user friendly in my eyes. It's a Uber sweet little cooker! My PitMaster IQ120 FREAKIN ROCKS!!!!!!! Current BGE arsenal: XL & MiniMax
