Pretty sweet MiniMax upgrade

A while back I mentioned in a post that my only complaint with my new MiniMax was the cheap rubber slip on feet they included with the carrier and how they quickly wore and deteriorated. So here they are after removing them.

I went to my local ACE to take a looksie at what they had. I managed to come up with these hard rubber bumpers that are about 1 3/4" in diameter and about an inch in thickness. Also purchased some stainless hardware for bolting them to my MiniMax.

I drilled a 1/4" hole completely through the center of them and then drilled a 1/2" hole about 3/8" deep as to countersink the bolt heads into the rubber bumpers.

I think they turned out great! A much heavier duty rubber foot and should last much longer this time.

I also accomplished one other thing by using these particular rubber bumpers and that is I created a bit better air gap underneath my MiniMax. Now I know I can set it anywhere and cook away without worrying if it's getting too hot underneath.

That'll work. As well as air gap, the added space allows a pan to be put under to rake out ash. Best thing about table nest for the MBGE is how easy it is to rake ash.

Thanks folks! If I get a chance I might even hit the lock nuts and bolt I used with some black paint to match the black stand better and make them blend in better and less visible.

That or cap them off with some chrome acorn nuts. Otherwise you could cut yourself on the exposed threads. You know chrome to match your full race, high compression chrome ash tool!

Ron, I think I'll take my Milwaukee Porta-Band to the bolts and cut them off clean at the top of each locknut

Nice mod, mine did not come with any type of feet. Not sure I will add any myself. I think it may be fine without.

I just like it not being able to slide around when transporting ... the rubber helps for that

Nice work. I immediately noted the increased air gap in the pics before you mentioned it. That's a bonus just as important as the feet.

Any issues with this so far? I am a little worried about the hold causing the original feet to rip.

I really like this. Was just noticing yesterday how mine are tearing apart. I'd like to do something like that, but I don't have too much room I'm the box of my truck with the cover down.
