Believe it or not Costco Kirkland Brand Columbian Roast, really good. We mix it half and half with flavored, which we get from our neighborhood coffee shop, College Hill Coffee.

I have a Cuisinart that will grind it fresh. We load up the beans and water, set the program for 10 minutes before we get up so it is fresh, hot and ready. My one indulgence, really good stuff. OK one of my MANY indulgences!

Lavazza or Illy or local roaster (always whole bean) is our top choice . . .  but normally end up drinking whatever whole bean goes on sale at whole foods.  I will try some of the kinds listed here next time.

Just got a new machine, Bonavita (knock-off design of the Technivorm) and been very happy with it.

I've been buying Costa Rican from the local roaster - $15 or $17 per bag.  When I'm low on cash I buy 8 O'Clock brand on sale.
My preparation method, since you asked, is as follows:
    1. bring two travel mugs worth of water to a boil.
    2. fill the travel cup with boiled water to heat cup.
    3. grind some beans and place in a Melita drip cone on top of heated mug.
    4. pour water (after it has cooled for 2 mins) over ground beans slowly.
    5. add half and half and hit the road.

I roast my own coffee .I buy green beans from Roastmasters or Sweet Marias. I roast Columbian ,Brazilian ,Sumatran and various Central Americans in a Behmor 1600 drum roaster . For espresso dark roasting Brazil and Columbian .I use a Nespresso  machine and fill my own reusable capsules from Sealpod . Makes a real nice shot .Grinder is Breville Smart Grinder .  My drip brewer is essentially a pour over ,Bonavita BV1800 ,no bells and whistles just a straight constant correct brewing temperature every time . My Choice if I was buying roasted coffee would be 8 Oclock whole bean  Columbian . Grind per cup . Very rarely buy coffe out,and Charbucks is not at all drinkable .

Although I frequent Starbucks several times a week as my "office on the road" I am not fond of their coffee. McDonalds has great internet, coffee is no better IMHO. Has anyone else found a better coffee brand to brew at home? Looking for a good espresso grind as well. BTW, I drink it black or with heavy cream with no syrups because of the carbs and lousy taste IMHO.

@MrWilliams . . the Bonavita BV1800 is what I have as well.  Had a budget and did lots of research . . as @sctdg said, it doesnt have horns & whistles (no pre-morning program, etc) but we are VERY happy with it.  Bump it up your wish list a few spots!

Also, I forgot about Tim Hortons . . thats my go-to road stop!

    Hi All:

I suppose you can add me to the snob list.  I have been buying green coffee predominantly from Sweet Maria's Coffee and roasting my own for going on five years now.  I try to follow the rule of 10s: Roasted coffee not stored more than ten days, freshly ground coffee brewed within 10 minutes, unless it is espresso, in which case, 10 seconds (though I very rarely drink espresso).  Drip coffee maker needs to brew very close to 200 F and finish the brew cycle withing 6 minutes.  Then no heated warmer after brewed.  Of course, use of a french press is even better.

My coworker roasts his own beans so we buy his as well as buddy brew coffee which is local in Tampa. I learned a lot from my coworker and get to flavor lots of varieties from all over. I really like Peaberry and kimmel varieties from papa new guinea.

Hopefully he doesn't mind me posting his link:

we use one occasionally.  I prefer french press but its good, my wife calls it an Italian coffee maker great for a strong cup or 2, similar to percolator type but stronger.  Also, it uses a larger grind not a fine espresso grind.

That's a good deal but it is only about $3 more on Amazon right now.  Just FYI for the future (in case you don't have a coupon).  Plus prime...get it in 2 days.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I buy green beans from various sources and roast my own.  It's a lot of fun and I get to experiment with different roasting profiles and blends to tweak what I like.  SWMBO says I've become a coffee snob.  A little like when I bought my egg...
