I was searching for this on the forum, but seems like it hasn't been shown here.
Looking for some videos on YT came across this pagan video (lol)

Share your thoughts. Would you ever do this to your egg? The only sane answer would be to light the charcoal, but it will be bulky.

I thought about rigging something in like that just to light my lump but then I admitted to myself that I'm lazy and nothing is easier than what I already do to light my lump

MAPP torch works fine. Lump is ready quickly. Or a weed torch like several on here use. Either one works splendidly.

Yup that's what i do I just had a notion that I could get even lazier at lighting it and then decided that I can't get it any easier than what I already do

grandkvisten is a very creative individual who has a passion for messing with kamado cookers.  You've probably seen his stainless steel bands with springs where he demos how to adjust the bands. Some of his ideas will make you shake your head, but some have merit.

If you have a free minute (hour) take a look at some of his other videos.  He's even made his own kamado cooker with a number of accessories.

I've watched ALL of his videos on his channel. You're right. He's very creative and I like the one on the DFMT with the middle finger in the permatex. Lol

I have a  fireplace on my back porch. When we built it the contractor wanted to know if I wanted a gas starter. I told him that felt kind of like I was cheating. In the end I went ahead and had them install it.

I will admit that it makes a LOT easier to start a fire, but that is in a fireplace and not an Egg.

In case you briefly noticed the orange colored gasket on his dome side that was his attempt to completely encase a Rutland braided gasket using several tubes of Permatex. He removed the dome and built a framework of concentric circles to accomplish all that. While we had conversed years ago I'm not sure it was with all the effort he put in to it. OTOH if you watched all that gas conversion YouTube you already know that time and effort really isn't in his grasp or concern! LOL

Cooking with gas is akin to wearing a condom during sex. Yeah it's better than nothing, but the quality suffers dramatically.

=))   Funniest thing I've read on here in a while.  Thought the meaning behind an Egg and it's ceramic brothers was to avoid gas altogether anyway.....sheesh.
