Ok I might be stating the obvious..but what does everyone do with the little pieces of lump. Pile it on the top for simple cooks? Burgers etc. .I personally do this..I am a noob and this may tear the staunch fabric of thinking.

I would much rather be able to say I was glad I did than wished I had........

Someone on the forum mentioned that they bought 2 orange buckets from Home Depot and drilled holes in the bottom of one ( looked like about half inch holes), then placed the one with holes into the other one and filtered the ash from the smaller lump to use again...Sounded like a decent idea..

Do? When they get small enough to fall through the fire grate, I scrape 'em out with the ashes. Until then, I just dump more lump on top when I need to. Never sort or filter. Lump is enough of a PITA without making it worse.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I eat them when I fear I've been poisoned. That or just dump on top of a fresh pile of lump.

I had considered using my BGE as in income source cremating small pets and thought it could be useful. Ashes to ashes.

HAHAHAHA... you dont want to cook on the egg and be burning someone else pet on it... unless this is the main reason you bought it... anyways, that would be interesting.

I use what ever is in the bag. Whether lump is the size of a football or dust, BTUs are BTUs. The dust does typically wind up on the top for me.

I usually save some of the smaller pieces from my large egg for when the mini needs lump. Either way, no lump is left behind.

I use it in the MM unless I'm doing a L&S in the Max then I'll put a couple big pieces in and the rest I'll go with the little pieces. It all burns regardless.

I will reuse lump once in the Egg, anything left after that goes in a bucket and I use it in my Chimney Starter............Overnighters always get a Fresh "Load" along with pulling out the fire box and cleaning..........Lump such a low cost in the big scheme of things
