Does anyone have experience with a cooler that is similar in design/performance as the Yeti? I just can't imagine dropping that kind of money for a cooler. I figured there are some pretty good knock offs out there by now.

K2 coolers... Google em.

The five day igloos are awesome. They weigh a fraction of what a yeti weighs too. But I love my yeti, I see no reason why it won't last my lifetime. I've lost count on the igloos I've had.
Remember knock offs are just that.Slumming it in Aiken, SC. -
@theshaytoon I like those. It looks similar but the price is still high. +250 for a cooler is beyond me.Dallas, TX

@nolaegghead speaks very highly of the Pelican coolers. Hopefully he may be along. I'm too old to worry about ice and staying power. I have my own staying power challenges >-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Igloo Sportsman-try Sam's. Maybe $199 for a 65q.

The Pelican coolers are bad Ass. But they are huge, to the point that I returned my Pelican and got a Yeti.

Most people don't have a need for a yeti or pelican. If you are using it for camping or going out in the boat and it will be opened alot it won't do much better than the $50 5 day coolers.

Just think how much you paid for a grill then go get your yetiLBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

@lit has a great point.

I like my Yeti. FTC pork butts come out piping hot after 8+ hours in the Yeti. Ice lasts a long time. Built like a tank and can be used as a casting platform in my boat. You get what you pay for with a Yeti.

Polar bear cooler FTW... Soft sided and bad ass. Thanks @MickeyFighting Sioux Hockey

I have heard about Grizzly coolers from hunting folks in the hospital. There are guys who have stuff in their pickup bed for weeks, still frozen.

The massive insulation is the primary reason for the extended ice retention. Obviously. What make the higher dollar coolers stand out is the construction (plastic wall material (think kayak vs. Tupperware)) and the hinges, and latches. Once you step up to the yeti/pelican/k2/whatever it comes down to personal preference. IMO.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

Flipped my rhino once throwing out the yeti, didn't loose a single beer. I knew at the moment I'd made a good choice. As far as ice retention I'm in it to many times a day to be impressed. But I feel like I will own it until someone steals it. I just ish I had bought the 75 instead of 65. The tumbler has thoroughly impressed me, I've bought 6 so far excellent gift.

Second the Igoo Sportsman, good value. Available at Sam;s only.

Pretty big fan of BRUTE coolers. Local company here in Texas with more insulation than a YETI and they will throw a custom lid graphic on for you. Also made in America.

Pelican all the way. The latches are the best I've seen on a cooler and the sizing is true to the number on the cooler.

I think they're nice, but with my luck, somebody would steal it the first time I used it. Even the knockoffs are too expensive to leave unattended.Steven
