small butt on mini Max

Fired up mini max 5# butt.Cooking at about 325 filled lump up to bottom of platesetter.Put butt on about 9am,guess I just cook and see how long it takes and how much lump is used.

Put on at 9am internal temp.205 at 2 pm.Egg got a little hotter than I planned probably avg.about 360.Still lump left maybe another hours worth at that temp.

I'm also curious to see how long the minimax will burn on a full load. I am thinking of getting one for my daughter for Christmas but from what it sounds it may not be available.

I was using Ozark o lump.I think at lower temps around 225/250 you could get at least 8 hours.

I cooked a butt at 250 degrees for 8 hours on the Mini Max, when done I opened the vents and cooked a burger. The next night I re-lighted the lump and cooked salmon at 450 degrees. I used Roal Oak lump. Tomorrow I cook a 5 lb prime rib. I am really impressed with the mini max. it heats up fast, and holds temp well. I am also anxious to grill a steak, but have not gotten it done yet.

Ain't it funSalado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Should be able to do no problem . You could go a lot bigger I'm sure I did a 7#er on my mini when I first got it and cooked at about 275 but had to add a little lump at the end. Cooked for about 9hrsOwen Sound On. For now 1large 2mini's 1exl and 1 6burner Vermont Casting
