Man this was good. Didn't plan on cooking tonight, but swung by Whole Foods on the way home. (Spent way too much on the meat, but that is another story...be careful asking for them cut cut somethingvfor you from the back where you don't know the price in advance).
The grilled cabbage was fantastic!
Started indirect (both cabbage and steak), finished on super hot CI lower grid.
The wine was a nice Montepluciano we brought back from Italy this summer.
Dressing:
3 tablespoon dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons white miso
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon mirin
2 teaspoons finely minced ginger
1 teaspoon finely minced garlic (about 1 medium clove)
1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper

@Judy Mayberry The recipe for the steak is from The Japnese Grill (excellent book), and is super easy: 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup oil, 4 tbs garlic, ground black pepper.
Marinate steak 10-20 min, reserve marinade and brush again about half way into cook (I did right before the sear so it would glaze up a bit).LBGE & SBGE. Central Texas. -
@Mattman3969 and @texaswig the grilled cabbage was the surprise hit of the dinner. Here is the recipe i followed for the dressing, though I didn't cook it the way they suggested: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2014/10/grilled-cabbage-wedges-ginger-miso-dressing-recipe.htmlLBGE & SBGE.
