Thursday nights are late supper nights for us. It also means something simple, but good. I've been perfecting a burger we love for years with toppings of melted cheddar cheese, grilled onion and bacon. The bun has a favorite homemade BBQ sauce on top and the bottom bun has bleu cheese dressing. the burgers are 1/3 pounders and are hit with Penzeys AZ Dreaming, garlic salt and DP Cow Lick rub. Tonight I decided to up the ante...I opened a new jar of Duke's Mayo and added a nice layer hopefully to make a great crust to sear in the goodness. Sorry that this is just a teaser so far, but supper still isn't for a while yet.

I suppose the egg in the mayo is acting like an egg wash. This is interesting.

I use mayo instead of butter on the outside of the bread when I make grilled cheese sandwiches. You get a much better crust this way.

You have to trust me on this one as the picture doesn't really do the results the justice it deserves since these DELICIOUS burgers were buried under the onions, cheese and bacon - BUT the crust on the meat ROCKED! I will do burgers this way again!Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

Love it. If it's as good as the rib cook then I'm all in. I'm buying stock in mayo! ;;)Every day is a bonus day and every meal is a banquet in Winter Springs, Fl !

With all that mayo you're eating you might need to work some ground lipitor into your rub.

Not a mayo fan, but I think I'll be giving this a shot. Assuming it doesn't have the mayo taste (like how there's no mustard taste when using it with a dry rub)?Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

Sounds good. Count me in on the mayo bandwagon. I have been doing the mayo on grilled cheese for a while and we also put mayo in the buns of our baked chili dogs. I cant wait to try on burger and ribs. Sounds great. Thanks for leading the charge Ron!Extra Large, Large, DigiQII, Thermapen, Adjustable Rig

FWIW, something I've tried that I liked pretty much was grilled ham and cheese sandwiches w. mayo spread on the outside to crisp the bread instead of butter.

Mayo is the crossroads of oil and butter. Its been the secret ingredient in my tandoori chicken for years - gives it a certain "self-basting" kind of effect.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
