If you look back through my posts you will see where I had an underbite issue and then "solved" it via a new hinge. Well, it's back and worse than ever. On fact, my lid wouldn't even dang close....after a rib cook. I removed my hinge/ band assembly and it is as if the top band is benf up and the lower is bent down. Just bought this assembly earlier this year too. I'll post pictures but I couldn't even get my lid to close after loosening everything so that that is why I punted and just removed it. Very frustrating.

Here are some pictures of my hinge/band assembly. The pictures don't do it justice. First is from the above looking directly down to assembly. You can see how the top band sits back at least 1/2" which is pulling my dome back. The side view I'm trying to show how the top part of the hinge where you attach the bands is pointing upward while the bottom is pointing downward...almost is if it bent out of shape. What did you do to cause it to bend? Drop it? My local dealer would come out to my house and fix it. I had a problem aligning mine and he came out and did it for me. Call your dealer.

I cooked on it. Lol. I bought the new assembly directly from BGE....it slowly pulled back on the dome over the last few months and after my last rib cook (week ago) the lid would not close all the way. I loosened the bands to allow the dome to settle and then retightened and didn't worry about the underbite. I'm sorry this is happening to you. Seriously call your dealer and if he/she is a decent dealer they will come fix it for you. Mine did.

I know when I put mine on I tightened the bottom then before tightening the top I took a wrench, placed it on the top flat part and lifted it forward. Then tightened the topGreen egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Yea. Dealer is closed today. I can't even reattach it at this point. I purchased it just 4 mos ago. I'm going to run by there tomorrow and see. I didn't purchase the Egg from them so I'm not going to have them come to me. I'll post my results later. As usual, the Mothership comes through. I emailed them at Warranty@biggreenegg.com today and they already responded and are sending me a new hinge assembly via FedX today. All is right with the world again. Installed my new hinge assembly today, and I could tell from the first lift of the dome this hinge is much smoother than my old one. My old one had to have had some issue. My dome used to be much more difficult to lift compared to this one. Night and day different. No cost to me so kudos to BGE. Glad you got your egg back in action. After the brisket camp I'm going to install Kamado Joe bands and hinges on my large egg. Congratulations and enjoy!!
