Simple (but delicious) Ribeyes

Got a new 10" Lodge flat CI skillet. Grabbed some thick choice ribeyes and marinated them in a little Worcester sauce, Dale's and soy sauce while coming up to room temperature. Heated the egg to 600 and let the skillet get hot. Topped the steaks with DP Cow Lick before putting them on for 2.5 min per side. Threw them in the oven for a few minutes to rest while the panko asparagus cooked. One of the best steaks I've ever made. Only got a quick pick of the final product along with Max making sure nothing was dropped by the egg.

Looks outstanding! I gotta get me a CI skillet. Wife says can't use hers - or no more cornbread. Don't want that!

Thanks @Keefer! I found it at TJ Maxx for $12. Well worth it.Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

Come to think of it - I have an old one of my grandma's. It hasn't been used in decades. I might see if I could season it up and try some things.

@Keefer you should use it!Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

I'm curious to know the benefits of using CI skillet in the Egg for cooking steaks as opposed to cooking the steaks directly on the grate.Thanks in advance."You can live in any city in America, but New Orleans is the only city that lives in you."Chris Rose

Not really sure there is an advantage. This was my first time cooking steaks in a skillet and I thought they were better this way. I think a lot of restaurants cook steaks on a skillet. Give it a shot and see what you think.nolan8v said:I'm curious to know the benefits of using CI skillet in the Egg for cooking steaks as opposed to cooking the steaks directly on the grate.

With that said, I've cooked steaks in both a skillet and on the grid, and they're both good - I don't know if one is better. I've been experimenting with caveman style (directly on the coals), and I'm starting to think that it may be better than both of the other methods.

Thanks for the responses!I will give it a try today with one steak in the skillet and one directly on the grate."You can live in any city in America, but New Orleans is the only city that lives in you."Chris Rose

Looks good. (S&P only for me on a nice ribeye though)When I'm not Eggin', I'm scootin' Eggin' and 'cueing from Temecula Ca; an hour from San Diego, an hour and five minutes from Palm Springs, and an hour and a half from Los Angeles (yeah, right. With THAT traffic?)

@Gogogordy usually only s&p for me too. Decided last minute to marinate these and they turned out really good.

It looks like it turned out great. I have never cooking with a cast iron skillet, but posts like this are making me want to give it a try.Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's
