Turbo Turducken !!
I want to try a turducken. I have the deboned birds ordered. I pick them up Thursday. Can someone give me estimates on cooking times ?? My initial research is telling me about 4 - 4.5 hours at 350.
I appreciate your input,
Donnie

It is approximately 20 minutes/pound at 350 degrees and the internal temperature of the bird is at 160 degrees F.LBGE & MiniOrlando, FL

Please, please, please, post pics of this cook!Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's -
Here are a few ideas. STAY away from smoke as it will overpower the meal.Order one;Mad Max Special:

A turducken is basically a large, thick piece of meat, like a thick roast. I'd almost worry that, at 350, you'd dry out the outer turkey before the innermost meat even comes up to temperature. But that's just an engineer's guesstimate, I've never made one. :-??_____________

Can't wait to see the pics...have always wanted to cook one of these.

I've done a few of these and found they cook better in the sub 300 range. Otherwise you end up exactly like @botch speculated with over cooked turkey and under cooked hen.XL, Small, Mini & Mini Max Green Egg, Shirley Fab Trailer, 6 gal and 2.5 gal Cajun Fryers, BlueStar 60" Range, 48" Lonestar Grillz Santa Maria, Alto Shaam 1200s, Gozney Dome, Gateway 55g Drum

I'm excited about this cook. I've never tackled one of these but plan too for thanksgiving this year. Where did you get pre-deboned birds from?1 large BGE, Spartanburg SC

@dldawes1 :-O You ordered deboned yard birds? Is this cost effective? What was it per #?LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

I got my butcher to debone the birds for me. The 2 deboned chickens I got last week ended up costing the same price as two regular whole chickens. I'll post my costs for the turkey and duck later this week. I pick them up and am going to egg on Thursday.

@dldawes1 heck if there's no markup I can't blame you for going this route. I figured about 10%-15% for the labor of deboning the birds as they have to pay somebody to do it.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

This is why I wish we had a butcher. If I asked the guy at publix to debone a turkey for me he would probably stare at me blankly and then point to the chicken breasts.1 large BGE, Spartanburg SC

Update::
Don't ever believe anything you hear concerning the easy preparation of " turducken " !!!!!!
Chickens were not designed to fit into a duck. Ducks were not designed to fit inside a turkey. All the home made stuffing tries to fall out. And this is the 6- inch piece of string that you are supposed to hold everything in there with !!!!!
Who's idea was this !!!
But I garuantee that the Big Green Egg will turn it into a delicious masterpiece !!!

:-j I bet the assembly is not unlike making sausages the first time, I'm sure it'll be easier next time (and you'll probably make adjustments, a cornish hen for a fryer, a larger turkey, etc)!Very anxious to see final pics/comments! What temp did you decide on?_____________

It's been several years since I have had a turducken. Thanks for sharing this and reminding me that I need to cook and eat one myself. And let me say that yours looks absolutely wonderful my friend. I'm obligated and honored to give this cook the SGH seal of approval my friend. Both solid and excellent cook. =D>
