Flying Solo tonight/tomorrow

Options
Family went away for the week and I am left home alone.

Planning to stop off at the supermarket on the way home (too late for the butcher) to get something to Egg.  Now what to cook?  needs to be a quick cook as it will be dinner for tonight and possibly leftovers (dare I say it or try them as I hate leftovers).

The last few steaks I got at the supermarket have been been mediocre to fail at best.

Meatloaf. Done in an hour and a half, which is not bad in my opinion. And it is great for leftovers.

Do you make the meatloaf normally in a pan that shapes the meatloaf (just the top exposed) or just on the grill?

I made it once and hated it - too much smoke flavor.

    No chicken - blah

Meatloaf or maybe some fish if they have anything that looks fresh.  No leftovers but a thought.

Hmmmm...what meal best pairs with adult pay-per-view???  Just kiddin.

Is there something your family doesn't like that you don't cook often?  For me that is lamb- so I might go with that.  Although it may not be something you want to get at the grocery store if you are not crazy about their meat department.

Fresh brats is another one that comes to mind.  My wife only likes the pre-cooked hot-dog-like brats, so I might cook up a pack of fresh brats.  Have them as leftovers with some eggs for breakfast!

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I was going to suggest lamb as well.

Normally fish - so I will look for that first.  If its no good then off to the meat section and hope something looks good.

Dont eat lamb that much.  Just dont.

Brats are awesome - I usually cook them in a beer bath first (APL recipe) that takes a while to cook but they are awesome that way

Maybe a turkey meatloaf - healthy maybe?.

I am not a fan of chicken but I do love buffalo wings.  I have yet to make them good on the Egg where they come out great.  I guess I like the fried version better even though its no good to eat them fried.

Meatballs are also quick and easy. Especially if you buy premade ones.

Raised-direct at 400 degrees. Make sure to add a little corn starch to your dry rub to help crisp them up. Sauce towards the end and put them back on the grill after you've sauced them for a few minutes.

What dry rub would you use for a "Buffalo Wing"?

Garlic, Cayenne, salt, pepper, Dry mustard, chili powder... Any rub with that kind of stuffworks. IIt's the sauce that makes buffalo wings. Rub is just another layer of flavor.

Meatloaf it is hopefully. Went and got 2lb mix of veal, beef and pork. Chopped up an onion. Mixed it together with 2 eggs, garlic powder, worcheschire sauce, parsley.

Also minced up and sautéed some baby Bella mushrooms and stuffed the meatloaf with the shrooms and shredded cheddar cheese.

Also prepped some eastern potatoes by chopping them up into 1 inch chunks, mixed with garlic powder, basil and dill. Wrapped in foil packets with butter.

Egg is being a pita as took 45 min to get clear smoke and I am using Rockwood. Egg to 325-350.

Loaf went on at 8. I am hoping it's done in an hour (doubt it) or I will nuke something else and eat this tomorrow of it comes out good.
