Gasket Question

Options
Ok, I've had my LBGE for several awesome months now and the gasket under the daisy wheel is gone. It was hardly on when I picked up my egg from a festival a while back.

My question for all, if you have gone with a Rutland on your base, what, if anything, did you put on the top?

I'm going to get my Rutland from @RRP very soon, but I'm also thinking about putting a strip on the daisy wheel and on the ceramic cap to better seal it up.

What do y'all think?

I've had the smokeware cap for about 14 months, it came with a nomex high heat gasket that is still in great shape. They sell them without the cap too

I have no gasket on top and no problem. Love my rutland. Do a clean burn to finish off you old gasket, makes it easy to take off

Some people do use a strip of Rutland on their Daisey as well as on their rain cap and they prefer to install it inside the two caps rather than on the neck of the dome itself. If you do in fact contact me I can fill you in on their cost and trust me it's cheap! LOL

How about not using the daisy wheel at all. I don't and have not in years. It is not needed. You can do everything with the bottom vent alone. Just use the green cap to put out the fire and storage.

I'm confused. My LBGE came without any gasket on daisy wheel. What am I missing here?? Bought mine from authorized dealer 07/2012

Mick and I have used no daisy wheel and no gasket for quite some time. If you do want a gasket, contact Ron (RRP) he sells that stuff for no profit and is a good guy.
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

I have a Rutland for my Smokeware and it is attached to the chimney. It has a great seal and also a tight seal for the ceramic cap.

My first egg (12/12) didn't come with a daisy wheel gasket, but the one I just purchased did. I put it on, but I don't think I need it.

The only reason I like it on is because the daisy wheel fits snug now. On my old egg I lifted the lid quickly once, and the daisy wheel fell off! Luckily it didn't break.
