Hi all. I've seen many posts about meat temp probes and saw this article today. Enjoy!!

The DudeThis is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.

This is very much like America's Test Kitchen.  In order to get the full report you have to subscribe.  There is info on a couple on the first page but beyond that pay up.

CDN scored an 83 and Thermopen scored an 81. Identical rankings and the Thermopen is better for thin meats. No idea what the difference is supposed to be.

CDN is a great thermometer especially for the price. Not sure how they rank it higher than the Thermapen though?

I've used a cdn thermometer that was comparable to thermopop and I really had no issues with it.

Not shocking ranked higher or lower, truthfully, a lot of eggers buy a thermapen for the name. Actually, a lot of products period lol.

Don't forget that Consumer reports doesn't care which item works the best. Just which one they think is the best "value"

Most of the time, the best performer doesn't win there rankings because it comes with a cost.

Grimguy makes a good point.  I don't know if CR has ever rated charcoal grills (I know they've done gas) but ATK has consistently downgraded the BGE because of its cost.
These, or any, ratings, by anyone, will be flawed in some way.  That's a good thing; if they were perfect we wouldn't have anything to whine about and the intranetz would disappear.
