Wagyu beef price?

So I just saw Wagyu beef at my local grocer (Dominion..aka loblaws) for the first time and the prices were comical. Over thirty bucks a pound!!!!

A steak the size of a small pork chop fast fry was like 30 bucks...crazy!! Now the marbling was unreal(steak was more white than red), but is it really worth the $$$. I mean I enjoyed my 10 dollar triple A t-bone immensely just now and can't see how it would be that much better???

Dare I buy one tomorrow?

Ya know what henapple you are right I remember seeing the sign now 59.99 per pound.I was basing my original assumtion on price on a conversation I overheaard..lol

Wegmens in Dulles Va had it for $54.99 today. I couldn't bring myself to do it and tomorrow is my 40th birthday. I just can't justify spending that, and I buy a lot of dumb stuff too!

Now the only wagyu expierience I've had is a 4pk of so called wagyu beef pre-made frozen burger paddies.They were $12.99 for 4 paddies and were quite good but weather or not they were actually wagyu...who knows???

@CANMAN1976‌ wagyu burgers maybe a lil better. The steaks are beyond delicious. The marbling has marbling.

Hmmm..... I do have 150,000 PC points that can get me 150 dollars worth of free grocery's......maybe I can pull this off after all and not be crucified by da wife.... LOL

I have been doing a lot of reading on this and it's a general consensus ther wagyu should be around $100 lb. average. Something going for $30 lb is probably not as stated was also a common comment.

That's cheap, even for American Wagyu. We sell Australian AA9 Wagyu for $89.99/lb. (Roughly the top 2% of all Wagyu).

American Wagyu comes in around $60/lb.

Of course anything Wagyu dry-aged, you can tack on between 20 and 30% premium. It's worth trying once.. You could do MUCH worse at a steak house, for $30.

If you ask $50 per pound is a bargain. You'll spend at least that much at a steak house.

You can get snake river farms cheaper than that. I get the wagyu rib eyes from super h mart for $37 a pound. Marbles just like the steak above if not better.
