My 1st Babybacks (Yes my First)

I would normally make spare ribs only because of $$$ (yep I'm thrifty). Ok I'm cheap ;-). I found these on sale about 2 months ago. I've been on call this holiday weekend and couple that with our afternoon storms. So, I was contemplating whether I'd do these at all. I digress. 3 racks of BBs, pulled membrane & separated into manageable sections. Lit lump with chunk of pecan and cherry. Rub>>> 1/2 of them with just kosher salt and coarse pepper and the other half with Mickey's. Rolling at 235℉-250℉ & intentions are to go uncovered the entire way. Sides will be done or picked up by @HuskerMaMa‌ (Cowboy baked beans and slaw). Haven't decided but, I may brush on some molasses on them toward the end (I'm leaning toward no). Also going to do a Mickey's rub Spatchcock for MaMa since she doesn't eat pork. Now I chill out listening to tunes under the shade with ceiling fans blasting (song playing right now....)

The Violent Femmes bring back a lot of memories, mostly the ones where I say "How'd I survive that?"
    Good luck on the BB's!!!

I've had the best results @ 275 dome.  Whatever you do I hope they turn out great!

@Mattman3969‌ don't ask HuskerMaMa but, I vaguely remember The Violent Femmes while in Puerto Rico. I spent 6-8 months working, snorkeling, drinking and face down in the beach and pubs. I think I brought up the stock on Bacardi and Crown Royal all by myself. :))

@DMW‌ My Son is fast asleep (19 yr old & he's a cook for Huddle House and has been working the 8pm-6am shift since Thursday and back again today at 6pm). But, he is a HUGE help! Mows the yard (1 1/4 acre), weedeats, edges, cleans up, powerwashed the whole house and driveway (we can park 10 or more cars to give a size reference). He also goes to college and has his GF. He's an awesome Son! Enjoy your boy. They grow up quick :-)

@NPHuskerFL Sounds like your boy inherited a great work ethic. That's a great thing to have, and I'm hoping I can instill that to my kids.

Why did you cut them? I fit two uncut racks directly on the large all the time.

First time seeing table finished. Wow. I liked it before you put in your Egg. Ribs looking good.

    @cazzy I wanted to split 100% evenly w/ the S&P vs Mickey's. And with 3 that's what I came up with (3) 1/2 racks of each. If I had 4 I wouldn't have split em up. ;-)

FWIW with the raised grid I've fit 4 full racks no problem. But, like I said I wanted a 50/50 split and this is what I had to work with as far as product (ribs). B-)

    "His downfall is women."

I can think of a lot worse downfalls
    :-\"

Yes, they do grow up fast!! My youngest is 22 already (Oldest is 27). Good thing mama and I started a little earlier than they do today!

I agree with @mcmac. If women turn out to be my boy's only downfall, I'll take that.

Also agree that I'm glad we started early. One of my co-workers who is about my age just had their first. We have 3 and we're done. I'll be 50 when my youngest finishes high school. Depending on his education/career path (and how lucky I am with investments), I might be able to quit my day job and try something crazy (BBQ catering) around then.

@NPHuskerFL I just did the math (yes, used a calculator, I'm a few in) and I'll be 43 when my oldest graduates from HS. I have a feeling that's when the big bills will start... and my oldest is a she, so eventually that means wedding $$$ as well. Dang it, not enough time to get to the money finish line....

You don't even wanna know brotha. We started investing in the FL prepaid college and it still adds up. Especially with the health care change debacle (we were better off personally before the hope & change---not trying to get political but, our health care was 100x better before this BS). I digress. Start saving and if you can invest in prepaid education do it.
I've been investing in many different things since I was 15 or 16 and I hope it pays off as I don't want to work the rest of my life. We would like to retire completely by our early to mid 50s. That's the goal at least.

Thanks @hapster‌ I just rotated top to bottom grid about 2 hrs ago. They're almost toothpick test ready. I'm hoping to be complete before to long (shooting for 5pm) so we can all eat together Son's GF and Mom included (he has to leave by 5:45 or thereabouts for work).

Toothpick test passed. Completed. & Plated. Supper was silent except for an occasional thumbs up and wink-n-nod. It was probably my best yet. I've gotta say I preferred the basic S&P ribs. Definitely going into my rotation. ;-)
