When I was cleaning out my Egg to get ready for a long cook I noticed that there was a crack in my fire box. I took pictures and emailed them to my dealer. I called them to tell them and he said it is kind of rare that it happened. We will see how it goes. At least I can still use it for now.

I had my first warranty issue a few weeks ago. My dealer communicated with the BGE office and my new dome arrived a week later. Based on what happened to your BGE, I would fully expect BGE to replace with new.

I what say cracks like that are typical. Personally, I would leave it as is....as long as it holds together your will be fine. It will be covered under warranty down the road so no need to rush. Mine was in at least 4 pieces before I finally replaced it...and that was because I filed a claim for a new base and just combined the two. Anyway, you will be taking care of regardless but I would look forward to more cracks. Lifetime warranty is awesome!Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

They said it's "Rare" huh? )
This is just a few threads. There are many many more.
& Here's mine. Broken/cracked fire grate, fire box and fire ring. Took my dealer the pics and emailed them to them. Had a replacements for all the cracked parts within a few minutes. No worries. Now if they wouldn't have had these parts on hand I would've likely had a 1-3 wk wait. To be fair I'm still using the cracked parts and the new ones are stored safely in a box for when it's absolutely necessary.

Last week my firebox collapsed and won't hold charcoal after being broken and on life support for 2 yrs. Should have a new firebox by next week.
