Gasket oops

Options
Got a Rutland from Ron and applied it according to his directions. Apparently when I closed the lid to let it set overnight the gasket slipped. It overhangs the inside of the egg about a quarter to 3/8ths of an inch. do I need to remove the approximately 6 inches of gasket and replace it or not worry about it or replace the whole thing? Thanks for your advice.
