While at the dealer picking up my new parts I noticed an Army officer and his wife looking at the eggs. I overheard the salesman and his pitch. He was the guy that "helped" me with my claim. He kept telling me my fire ring was ok cracked because the new ones had a slot in them. I tried to tell him the firebox does and not the ring but that regardless I wanted a new one. Finally the owner or gm walked over and approved everything.

Upon leaving I struck up a conversation with the guy and his wife. They couldn't decide between the l or xl. I walked him through the different options and he continued to ask questions for about 20 minutes. I spent much more time with him and had more intelligible info than the sales guy. We walked through everything from starting to indirect to after market parts to the thermapen. I wish I could have talked to me before I bought mine.

Back then, your answers weren't as good as they are now, see we've all been a very positive influence on you - Good on you to help a potential new egg owner, one Atta Boy!

Great job on helping out someone who serves in the military. When I bought mine the sales guy sucked, lucky I had met someone that had one that he inherited from his dad. I can remember the first brisket on that thing and knew I had to have one.

You'd be the first egg salesperson to offer a 6 of PBR with the purchase of an egg I'm sure. Did OO come into this conversation :))

It's good to EGGsplain the stuff the salesman left out.  I'm sure your check and a thank you from BGE will arrive soon.  Then you can go spend it on some more Egg stuff.  Don't you just love how everything EGG turns out well for everyone.

I slowly took the grid out and let him view the beautiful, creamy white ceramic. "Run your hand across it" I said. With a slight tremble in his hand he coursed his fingers around the ivory temple. "Breathe it in, become one with the egg" I whispered. ...then screamed at the top of my lungs.. "don't ever use Royal Oak in this bitch". Shortly thereafter I was escorted out of the building...with a small, half-smile. I had done my job.
Laughing so hard I'm tearing up! I can just visualize this happening at my local Ace Hardware dealer.

Hey at least this conversation didn't involve you sipping PBR whispering into said perspective egg buyers ears while rubbing bacon on yourself. Although that may have sealed the deal. =))

"Fred, that salesman's got beer on his breath and he's slurring a little."

Mine too, so I found another dealer and bought it from him.  I was very pleased with the second guy.

I'm just lucky I found this forum before I got my egg. BGE should give everybody a 10% discount on BGE products that belong to the forum and the dealers should give another 10%. I almost bought a classic Kamado Joe, but it seemed to big and I wanted to do some research. Funny thing is after I found this site you guys changed my mind. Not only did I switch from Kamado Joe to BGE, but also guided me on the correct size. So how about those discounts?
