Broken XXL! :(

Options
Put a 4lb. pork shoulder on this morning for my wife and I and noticed juices running out of the bottom of the egg.  On further inspection found a crack running from one end to the other.  I've had my XXL for a year and a half and have not missed more than one weekend of cooking on it since I got it.  But it sits in a heated garage in the winter and never outside.  It sits in a nest but I wonder if it would be better to have some cushioning between the nest and the egg?  Anyway, here's a pic.  I'm not too concerned.  I'm registered at the BBG website and have a great dealer.  Just don't want to have this hassle every year and a half!

Just curious my friend did you mean x-large- extra large or the new extra, extra large-xxlarge?

Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

Hopefully you won't have to worry about it it happening again.  It does seem to be a relatively rare occurrence.  I don't think there is anything you did to cause it, it just seems to happen.  Lately it seems the frequency of cracks (or at least people posting about cracks) is on the rise.  I wonder if BGE might be having some manufacturing/QC issues?  I have had 2 eggs for about 4 years and no cracks in either.  They sit outside uncovered, but I am in GA so we don't typically get extremely cold temps.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I heard some noise the other night coming from the back deck.  Opened up my XXXL and there were some pornographers chugging out of ceramic bottle (<whisper> I think it was moonshine!!!</whisper>), keeping everyone awake.

Anyone know how to get rid of them?  They keep coming back.

This will be the second claim my local dealer has had to file ever!  They sell a lot of eggs too!  On a closer look found that the crack is going up the side of egg over 12 inches!  Almost broke in half!!

Contact BGE to get a replacement shipped out ASAP. It sucks to hear your egg broke BD. At least you own one of the brands that offer a lifetime warranty. BGE will take care of you. Nolaegghead, when are you posting pics of of Triple-X Egg? :-)

For whatever reason, I've had the base of my large crack twice.  Small, never.  Medium, never.  Don't know why.  Hasn't happened in a long time, so maybe I was just unlucky,

Well it's official.  My local dealer said that BGE covered the parts and they are coming out this week to install them for me!  Awesome support and testament to why I pay a little more for the best!

Did you have to bring said parts into the dealer or just supply photos?

I've got a firebox that is cracking on my large, that I want to get replaced. Didn't know if I need to dig it out, and clean it up and bring it in or have them hold it while my grill would be out of commision for who knows how long.

I just had to supply photos.  But I wouldn't base my situation as the norm for all claims so best to check with your dealer.
