Spawn's Turkey Pot Pie
Trouble
Posts: 276
It was outstanding. As I mentioned yesterday, my spouse looked really scared when I mentioned pot pie. He confirmed last night that all he's ever had was the frozen rock pot pies that thaw into a salt-laden blob that's either still cold in the middle or burns one's tongue.[p]Followed Spawn's method, with a few minor changes:
I made the potatoes with sour cream and butter, and added chopped green onions before covering the pie with the potatoes about 30 minutes in. A few more green onions were sprinkled on top when serving. A 9" pie is just the right amount of food for four (very well satisfied) people--we had exactly half left over with no sides at all. I'm lazy and it's a one-dish well rounded meal.[p]Since the temperature has dipped significantly overnight, I'll get out the soup I've been saving. I love turkey soup![p]Happy Wednesday, everybody.[p]Joyce

Trouble,[p]I have quick question regard this tempting recipe Max posted. Did you use a frozen pie shell or did you opt for pre made refrigerated pie dough to line a glass pie dish?[p]Thanks, Mike
-
Mike_W,
i used the refrigerated pie dough. .. .HTH

mad max beyond eggdome,[p]Max thanks for the speedy reply. Just one more thing, do you pre bake the shell before you add all the filling?[p]Mike

Mike_W,
I did not, per Max/Spawn's method.[p]I used a Pillsbury refrigerated dough that's rolled up. I followed the directions on it, which say not to prebake it for things like this (only prebake for ice cream cakes and such).[p]So, let dough come to room temp, unroll and press into pie pan. Fill with good stuff. Let bake a while at 350. Add mashed potatoes, let bake a bit longer. I cooked mine for about 35 minutes without the potatoes, then another 20 minutes with the potatoes. [p]Good luck.[p]J
