Looks good to me brother. I'm going to give the searing in a cast iron pan a try tomorrow. I have always used the grid but I have heard so much good about the pan I'm going to give it a shot myself. Got it in the smoker now burning it off as it has been hanging on the barn wall for over 6 years. Again yours look great my friend.

Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

    Status- Standing by.

cast iron grate and a hot charcoal fire yield those awesome results- wow, that looks pretty

to put this into perspective, a steak like that in a restaurant is minimum $30, and probably closer to $45.  I can buy a pack of three prime new yorks at Costco for $40 and have the enjoyment of making them myself on the BGE with the cast iron grid

that's about as close to perfection as one can achieve.

GREAT job and thanks for sharing!

I cooked at about 600 degrees. Two minutes, flip, two minutes, flip, close all vents for three minutes. Take it up and let it rest for about 10-15 minutes and enjoy.

when momma's happy, everyone's happy!  Keep up the good grillin'

I will post pics on the site the next time I cook.  cast iron grid adds another dimension of 'miracleness' to cooking on the Big Green Egg!

    Looks great...perfect cross-hatch grill marks!!

Be careful with closing all the vents...it's honestly not a technique I would recommend. Think of a candle when you snuff it and the black smoke that you see.
Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....
