I'm going to make some SS, adjustable "China Cap" tops for the small BGE

I know there is another company who makes them for the large and the medium, I have one!  I've tried to get them to make some for the other sizes, namely the small but no go.  Lucky for me, I'm a steel fabricator and I have 1000's of customers who are great with sheet metal.  I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who only works in SS.  I'm going to send him the dims for a SS china cap for the small and was curious if any of you guys would want to jump on board.  They won't be cheap as they'll be fabricated (not stamped) pieces and made in the U.S. but they'll be sweet and give you the same functionality as the LARGE style.  So, let me know what you think.  I'll have better numbers on a price in about a week, of course price will change depending on how many are ordered.  I'm NOT trying to get in to this as a money maker business, just want to make a couple out of necessity.

    Can you post a copy of your prototype or is this still just a vision in your mind? I believe the reason Matt from SmokeWare hasn't developed one for a small is the perceived lack of demand. Couple that with the quandary about the fate of a small when the Maxi-Mini rolls out and what throat size it will have.

    Called Smokeware a couple of weeks ago, and they do not have any current plans for adding a small size to their lineup.

    Isn't the dome on the MM identical to the small?  Thought just the base was cut off at the knees?  The draft doors look identical in pics?

    If they are made like Smokeware's, I will be placing another Rutland order soon for the install. ;)

    OK, cool guys.

    I most likely won't be doing a prototype.  I'm not going in to this as a business venture, just something I want to make because nobody else does.  After this run, none more will be made.  Unless it sets the world on fire or something, lol.  I will be able to offer a drawing of what it'll look like.  It will be fabricated and we aren't going to use any dies, like the bulled nose die someone made for the cap part of this one.  I think the most critical items are to have a certain amount of overhang on the cap part and for the cap to fit nicely around the exhaust outlet.  I don't see the need for the flare at the bottom of the "tube"  I think that's just for aesthetics.  In a couple weeks, when I get in to it and get a price, I'll post it here one more time for final counts.  You'll have to commit but I won't ask for any $ until they're done.

    I would also be interested.  I suggest waiting a week or so to judge demand as many eggers only get on the forum every week or so.

    Not far at at all, just brain storming at the minute.  I'm going to get more involved in a week or two once I get my head above water.  I want to talk to my friend who is in IP to make sure that I don't infringe on any patents just 'cuz.  Might have to use a butterfly valve or something, not sure.  I will get this thread going after I have a drawing and an estimate.
