I just picked up a Dyson DC65 Animal Complete tonight, which came with a free DC34 cordless handheld. B-) OMG...I don't know what I've been doing my adult life...surely the back and forth motion wasn't vacuuming.

I actually feel quite disgusting after using this thing. My previous vacuum also had a canister so it's not like I'm just not used to seeing dirt and hair. We just vacuumed on Friday and this thing picked up more stuff in 3 minutes than the other did in 20. I'm a believer!

We got a Golden Retriever a year ago so kind of sort of had to get the Animal. My wife is thrilled! I am enlightened.

@cazzy yep we had the same disgust after we got a real good vacuum. 6 months later we tiled our entire home + area rugs of course. But, it's so much simpler to keep spic-n-span.

Felt the same way when I first got my Dyson. Unfortunately it was my experience that they do lose suction just like other vacs even though they claim they do not. After several uses the remove able parts don't seem to fit together perfectly and you'll lose suction because of it.

We got one of their big vacuums about seven years ago. No comparison to other vacs - the thing kicks ass. We had a cheap rug in our mud room and it took the carpet fibers clean off it.

Dyson vac's rule! I haven't had to vacuum once since we got one. The wife loves to see how much crap it pulls from the carpet! We also hardwood floored the entire first floor, stairs and second floor hallway after she realized what was trapped in that carpet!

As with many others, I do the most of the cooking in my house. With that and two daughters, i've had plenty of opportunities to lose my man card. Doing pigtails for my daughters doesn't feel very manly. :P

I know the pain of having my Man Card revoked. I got drunk and ended up with a tramp stamp. Barney never lets me forget it and laughs at me still. What really hurts is Wilma does too! Do you feel better Cazzy?

BTW the above is all BS. I just wanted to make Cazzy feel better. People keep saying they remember this used to be a friendlier place. I've done my part.

Pigtails I can identify with, 7 year old granddaughter. I should not really speak of unmanly things as I get regular email from these folks…..

Im scared that no one has mentioned the RAINBOW vacuum cleaner. Just as @ehummelman, my 3 best purchases are the XLBGE, BMWR1200GSW and RAINBOW VACUUM cleaner. So just you know, I don't have Carpets in my House, we vacuum floors , furniture and beds! I have been so tempted to vacuum the dog!

I got mine at Best Buy. They had the Animal Complete on sale or mis-labeled, so I saved $36 on it after taxes. I used the coin saved bought the 4 year protection plan ($29.99) for the handheld. It only comes with a 2 year, so it was a no brainer, especially since it covers 1 battery replacement.
