So I was cleaning out the ash as I was prepping to get ready for 4 butts...noticed the cracks in the base...this is the second base I've had crack on me. I'll be getting in touch with my dealer tomorrow. Hope the second go round is as smooth as the first??

That sucks..is that in the nest?Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Looks like an XL with a centre nest brace. Hard to tell, perhaps the nest is too tight, uneven, or has a stress point (may be a protruding bolt head)?canuckland

That is in the nest. The first time it spider cracked between the lower air intake and up towards the handle. I don't roll my nest anywhere and seldom take her upwards of 700 so I was quite surprised to see this. Anyone else with experience of more than 1 warranty claim with the same item?

Man, that seems odd to be a two time victim of something that's generally a rare occurrence. Sorry for your hardship and damn awful luck.Dave - Austin, TX

That truly sucks that this has happened to you not once but twice (that's the first I've seen same claim 2x but, I'm sure there are others out there). But, I suppose it's better than thrice though ;-). But, seriously that is odd. 4 sure get dealer for warranty base ASAP. +1 on what @Canugghead said in regards to the nest or bracing etc.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Just received word that my warranty has been approved and my new base will be on the next shipment coming to my dealer. I hate to have to deal with this but I have had nothing but a good experience with the warranty from BGE.
-
When you claim your warranty did you need the original receipt or was the online registration sufficient?
-
I had to provide them (my dealer) with the actual date of purchase. I have the original receipt and was willing to send in a picture of it but they did not require that of me.
-
The online registration is fine. Especially if you go to the dealer where you bought it because you are in their system.Mark Annville, PA

Although this obviously sucks to have this occur it speaks volumes of the customer service and REAL LIFETIME warranty of BGE. Now what are you doing w/ the cracked base? Herbs etc. Glad to hear BGE came through for you :-)LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Once you file and are approved a warranty claim, you should no longer need to provide a receipt. That was the case with me last week. Guess BGE just checked my registration and confirmed I was the original registered owner.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

The name Jonysouth implies you may live in the south. Could this in any way be due to extreme cold weather of the past winter? Even here in GA, we saw 22 one morning and the most subfreezing nights in at least 8 or 10 years.
Hope this base will last forever.
