Does this butt need tied??

Just opened up a pork butt from costco and it looks like it has a big flap. Do I need to tie this bad boy?

yup, roll up as uniformly as possible and tie. is it boneless?canuckland

Yes Boneless...that's all they had there at costco.

I typically get butts from Costco and I never tie it. Put it on upside down from your pic tucked in. The little flap finishes first and I use that as a cook's treat. You can tie it, but it's unnecessary for me in my experience.

i just lump it together, my brother lays it flat and would open it some more to cook more uniformely

As Mentioned previously, those little flaps sure do taste good right around the half way point to me and my boys! Good early treats. However, I do believe I will tie them up from now on.
