Guess you really want to inject it since you posted the same thread 3x. Lol. Wouldn't personally inject it though.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Agreed- not at all essential. I honestly wouldn't mess with you your first butt. Rub it...smoke it.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

NOT

Don't, not worth the effort. There's enough stuff in that butt that will render and keep it moist.They/Them

I will apparently be in the minority, but I always inject butts. Here is link to a detailed post from other forum on this topic, and if I can find one I did I will link it also:

Essential? Geez, I hope not cuz I never have!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

OK, found my prior post under my earlier screen name setting forth my findings on injecting. I do agree that butts on the egg are very good non-injected, I just found injecting took things to a new level. Here is link if you are interested in reading more:

Yeah. Sorry abt the triple post. Phone problems. Thanks for the advice.
If anyone wants to share a killer vinegar sauce, I'd love to see what you've got. Sides too. I'm thinking slaw and sweet potato fries.

So you're saying that Wickers is damn good.

What kind of vinegar sauce? Eastern mop or that stuff made with the devil, I mean ketchup.
-
Either. Actually both. I have some peeps who love mustard and hate tomato and some who are exact opposite. Which is why I want to work Butts into the family BGE menu.

Seriously. ..try WickersGreen egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

My dad's side of the family is from Eastern NC. I'm from Charleston, SC so it's mustard and vinegar for me.
-
I like it both ways.... The butt as alot of fat so it's mostly for flavor. If I do inject, its concentrated apple juice or a mix of apple cider vinegar and AP
