Should I be concerned?

Have a cabin in the North Georgia mountains and have egged their for years. However, have never done an overnight cook there . My LBGE sits on my wooden deck in a nest with a handler on a BBQ mat. My concern is that bears have frequented the area. I'm not concerned about regular cooks , but wonder if overnight unattended low and slows might be a problem . Has anyone had any experiences in this regard? Or, any experience with a bear just checking out a BGE that is dormant after a cook? Thanks.

I would think if a bear did come in to the smell he would be deterred by the heat radiating from the egg.

I don't think anything is going to keep the Bear from his meal. He may destroy the Egg getting it. They rip doors open on cars the Egg won't stop them.

Would they like that smell? I would think an animals natural instinct would be to avoid smoke.

Bears know their way around gassers so perhaps just leave the manual next to the Egg.

ive only had a bear problem once and it was in a camping area where people were probably feeding it. bears in my yard have only hit the bird feeders. most i might do is a clean burn before heading home

I have never had a problem with them around the egg but the garbage is a different story.

We have bear problems where I'm from. I've had low and slows go thru the night and never had a problem. They always take my trash off my deck but never messed with the egg thank godLBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

Maybe you bait them with a nice stinky trash bag a couple feet away from the egg! I would think if you were gonna have an issue they would have checked out the egg by now from a previous cook. Don't think they would mess with a hot smoking egg. Just my .02.Bristow Virginia XL&Mini One of the best feelings in life is watching other people enjoy the food I cooked!
