Calling all large BGE with nest stabilizer and nest handlers

I'm expecting my large BGE this Saturday and am having second thoughts on adding egg mates, the nest handler with the nest. Only have about 43 inches of width on my deck and I think I might have trouble fitting the egg comfortable on the deck.
I am hoping to get some measurements from fellow eggheads. I need the widest anterior posterior dimension of the large BGE with a nest handler installed on the nest as well as the widest dimension of both egg mate shelves up (as well as only a single egg mate up). It will give me some idea of how things will fit.
thanks in advance!

Have Handlers on both my Large. Would not have a nested Large without. 31 inches as this shot shows. Not a fan of the mates. <img src="httSalado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

I don't have the nest handler, so I can't give you those measurements. The egg mates add 12" each when opened. I use my egg mates with every use and can't imagine egg'n without them unless I had a table. Keep in mind that the way the mates are installed, It's so much easier to get them from the start rather then putting them on later. I debated this same question, but mine was a mater of money and thinking it would be a waste because I eventually want a table. We'll I still don't have a table so I'm glad I got the mates.Steven

Love my handler on the large. Would have lost my egg for sure over a patio bump if I didn't have it.
It also makes the egg in nest look cooler.Seattle, WA -
For those of you with handlers, can they be easily added with the egg in the nest?They/Them

Thanks @hapster thinking one for my XL might be a good idea, but getting it out of the nest by myself requires taking the dome off.They/Them

Yes. Just be sure what size wheels on your nest. Two size of handlers. The newer came out 3 years or so.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
One of the bolts to connect the handler to the nest is load bearing. Much easier to bolt on with the Egg not in nest. Maybe Mickey can explain how to do it with the Egg in the nest, I've never attempted this.

Smartass, I did not read it correctly. I was thinking he ask if it could be added later and yes. BUT the Egg must be pulled from the nest to add.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Fwiw mine was installed with my egg in the nest. Seems secure nice taken over patio bumps and its been fine all year. Now I don't tilt it or anything like that just pull from different areas often.Seattle, WA

My new Large was ordered with Handler. My older Large has the smaller wheels nest and the nest had to be replaced to add a Handler. So mine was out to replace nest.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
That's right my nest is newer with the big casters. I don't think removal is required if I remember the directions correctly.Seattle, WA

Kind of an unwarranted response to an honest question.

It appears the nest and handler have been redesigned to allow for installation without removing the Egg or removing a bolt from the nest. I'm surprised that they don't even have to remove the dome and install longer cinch studs when attaching the handler to the Egg anymore.XL, Large, Small, Mini Eggs, Shirley Fabrication 24x36 Patio, Humphrey's Weekender, Karubecue C-60, MAK 1-Star General, Hasty Bake Gourmet, Santa Maria Grill, Webers: 14" WSM, 22.5" OTG, 22.5" Kettle Premium, WGA Charcoal, Summit S-620 NG

I think everyone got a little off topic. Veresneedle76 ask for measurements.Steven

My large egg is about 4 years old and has the old style wooden mates. They have not changed to composite. My mates span a little over 45 inches at the widest point. Also, if I had it to do over again I would skip the mates. You could just get a small stainless table or something to put beside the egg and then you have more options of how you place it.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Thanks for all the responses.
I might just go with the side table idea. 45 inches will definitely be tight >< -
I really like mine and couldn't imagine pulling off the bottom band to install them if you want them later.Steven

OT but still regarding the handler. I have the LBGE and move it around each time I use it. Does the handle give a lot more stability to move around (worth the $$)?LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Looks like BGE has modified the handler hardware to get around the load bearing bolt. Although I have yet to see the newer version, so dealers may have old stock.
NPHuskerFL-If moving the Egg frequently as you mention, the handler add stability. IMO

@SMITTYtheSMOKER ...Thx I'll look at adding that on at some point. Sounds like a justified purchase to me.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL
