1st pork butt suggestions for the green one

1st weekend with the egg! Planning on wings for lunch then pork butt for tomorrow. Oh course as a new egghead I've looked at countless recipes for the butt task. I've got an 8 pounder with no bone. Any suggestions? Oh and of course on my virgin weekend our city (chandler,az) is having a huge BBQ fear downtown. Will need to hit the gym hard come Monday.

Just pick what sounds best. It is almost impossible to mess up a butt cook. I prefer hot sugar maple rub and 325 indirect until it is 205 internal.
If the boneless butt is irregular shape you may want to tie it up into a rectangular shape. Good luck.XL,L,SWinston-Salem, NC -
Since your egg is new I would check the calibration on your thermometer before you start.

Don't bother trimming it, if there is any fat at the end you can just cut it off... Butts are hard to mess up

Without the bone do I need to tie it up or am I ok? If I go slow 230 about how long for an 8 pounder?

Tying may be a good idea. I figure around 1.5 hours per pound at 225 for low n slow.

I have never tied.... just be careful when removing it. At 225F it can take 1.5-2 hrs per lbs...
