Are there any controllers that can be converted to battery?

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but that has never hindered me before. Are any of the controllers (Digiq, Stoker, etc.) convertable to battery power? I have a very long distance between my BGE and a power source, so I'd like an alternative.

I just bought a PartyQ and it's battery operated only. That was the main reason I bought it. I don't want to mess with additional wires and I sometimes cook in places without electricity.Dave - Austin, TX

The PartyQ runs on batteries.
Pitmaster has instructions on their website how to build a battery box for their units.
They're all 12V, a trip to Radio Shack and you can do it.

Great news. I thought I would be without a viable solution.Transplanted from Austin, Texas to Medina, Ohio

@Terrebandit...how well has your PartyQ worked for you?Transplanted from Austin, Texas to Medina, Ohio

Pm me if you want to buy a Party Q. Mine runs on batteries or an AC adapter. I just don't use it enough for my cooking.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Party q works well on those overnight cooks. Holds temps w\o issue. So ez to set up as well. Batteries last 20 hours or so. Sometimes a little longer. Suggest you buy some rechargeablesLBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

With a spare car/marine battery and a small inverter you could run any of the AC models for a long time on one charge.

my auber uses 12 volt dc,, the power supply I s just a converter.. I could probably use 9 1.5 volt batteries, or a spare car battery.. if I had toXL Walled Lake, MI

Buy the BBQ Guru cig adapter. I plug mine into a small portable car charger ac converter. Will last all weekend and charge cell phones and such.not the model I use but gives you the idea. I think I got mine on sale for $50Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

@TEggSun They make an adaptor for the DigiQ DX2. It plugs into the AC slot but you hook it to a battery. I have made one myself. All you need is the correct two wire plug for the DigiQ and know the polarity of the plug. Then just attach to DigiQ and other end to a 12 volt battery.

I just bought it. Should be receiving it any day now.Dave - Austin, TX -
They all could run off of batteries, by getting a 12V battery (like used as back up in home security), this assumes most run off a wall wart ac to dc converter at 12V dc. Then you need two 18ga wires preferably black and red, two female quick connects most likely 3/16 or 1/4 inch to connect to battery and crimp to 18g wire. Then get a DC power connecter making sure the barrel is the correct diameter and length (most likely with 2.1mmx5.5mm or 2.5mm x5.5mm). Confirm off the diagrams on the wall wart which is the positive part for the barrel connector then solder so positive is correct. And your done. If the unit operates off a different voltage just find that volt battery. Or use a computer UPS battery back up and plug the wall wort into it. If power goes out battery backup continues to supply power. Me I gamble and use just straight electricity.Be WellKnoxville TN
