Just finished my egg carrier for my small egg. It's very stable and weighs about 10 lbs. all aluminium, I'm going to add gasket around inside and needs a bottle opener mounted. And it's ready for the beach

If we had enough orders we could get the aluminum cheaper, it took 15 ft of 3/4x3/4 with 1/8 in walls and a 17"x17" 1/4 in thick plate. And 3 - 2" long pieces of angle aluminium to keep bottom from moving perfectly also gives it airflo under it,it's very stable even when I open it it doesn't move.my friend said it took him 5 hrs total. But we made it out of wood first so we didn't waste metal. He would def make them and I'm sure I can beat him up on time

Very neat. That carrier sounds like it will get some mileage.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Connecticut. It wasn't a cheap build but it will be in my will with the egg lol

Cool idea. That will make packing it around, a lot easier.Large, small, and a mini

We have a beach house in Rhode Island , I'll bring it there for summer gonna cook on it this week to see haw it handles the heat
-
Just a thought. If you still have your "feet" after arriving at destination use them ( or some other way to get an half inch or so). After the first time I used the Mini (found the heat) I started of buying some very high dollar (made for high heat) pads. Now I carry a set of feet and slide them in at set up. Now if you do not cook out of yours forget all this crap. Very nice rig.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Yes I was wondering how those heat pads work. Guess not very good right now I have 3 pieces of angle aluminium under it I was gonna use the same gasket material we use on dome just to keep it from direct contact. I'm gonna cook right in it so if I have to I can lift it an slide something under

Really cool! I think you are on the right track with the angle brackets- you have a little bit of an air gap there. I would just keep an eye on it and see how hot it gets. Perhaps you could add some additional spacers to create a bit more of a gap if necessary. One thought- could you mount some feet to the bottom of the carrier? This way there would be some additional airflow between the bottom of the carrier and whatever you set it on to cook.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Yea we were thinking removable feet for bottom. The way it sits now it's real stable even when you open lid so for transport I will keep it flat. The true test will be when I fire it up. Well see where we need to improve
-
The feet work fine for me. I just toss them inside for travel. Keep the pads for cushion. I do like the outside bottom flat. Easier to sit down anywhere.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

U still use mat?
-
Where can you get the silicone mat?
-
How much for one of these?
-
About 100$ in aluminium. And about 4-5 from start to finish polishing it

Sorry, but the PM was a reply to Jeremiah who had asked you about your antique vise in the background of one of your pictures. You then replied to his query that you didn't know the brand. I then sent him a PM via this forum plus a picture of my antique vise made in 1910.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time. -

First cook in new egg carrier went great did batch of wings to see how hot carrier got. Let it get up to 500 for over 1.5 hrs and whole frame remained cool bottom plate felt a little warm underneath. But not a problem at all lookin forward to traveling with it
